lite / life (2021)
Travel bans, only fans, elections, evictions, restrictions, dust, lust, lidl plus, patty don’t start, party don’t stop, breaking up, making up, microchips, netflix, new masks, incomplete tasks, Zooms, bedrooms, BAMF, SAD lamps, 5G conspiracies, vitamin d deficiencies, takeaways, mayonnaise, being afraid.
lite / life consist of 25 works that have been completed since the beginning of the second German lockdown dubbed “lockdown lite”. The series offers physical responses and observations on “lite” living and daily life throughout this time period.
Rubber panels were laid across the artist’s bedroom floor for the duration of “lockdown lite”, continuing into the harsher lockdown that extended into 2021. Forced to confront, interact and walk across them on a daily basis the works also physically documented and recorded the time period. Along with the personal photographs, self-portraits, found material, text and ephemera the works have the tracks and traces of his lived experiences embedded. The movements, missteps and marks all being visible in the rubbers surface.
Each work is 23cm x 50cm – mixed medium on rubber.
